Day 6  (day 0 is the transplant day, day 1 is day after, etc.)

Well the transplant went off without a hitch.  No fireworks.  The staff and some of the family that could make it came in and sang happy birthday gave me a balloon and a card.  Quinn tried to hold his bone marrow hostage but gave it up in the end. Then I tried to drink it through the bag.  This all happened on the 5th of December.  I have lost count on how many times I have thrown up.  Looks like they found a way to stop it but it was lots of trial and error. Have been doing a lot better the last few days.  My energy has been low and my whole body doesn't feel right.  I haven't wanted to eat since i have been in the hospital.  Everything has a medicine taste and I get nauseous just smelling or thinking about food. But over all I have been doing fairly well.  Don't know how much longer I can stand being stuck in here.  Will be very excited to get out.  Don't remember being stuck in one place for very long.  I tried to come up with a plan today on sneaking out but chickened out last min.  I know i could pull it off.  Haven't lost my hair yet but they say most likely will soon.  I don't match the text book cases.  They say I am doing pretty good.  I don't have much of an immune system left but they thought I would be at zero days ago and close but still not.  They test my blood levels every morning at 4:00 am. so we can see how they are doing. Ingraftment should start about next Thursday.   All in all I would love to be home and feeling better but I just need to be patient it will work out in time. One cool thing is that i get to be with my super wife and get to do some video chatting with the kids, which is nice but not the same.

Finished my second day of chemo.  Have been having a reaction to something.  Not sure if it's the chemo or not.  Have had a rash on my neck and it is swollen.  Have tried a few things but haven't seen much improvement. They even did an Doppler to check for a blood clot. Quinn started his shots for his donation today.  Every thing is on schedule for the transplant on the 5th.

They have been working on a lot of the pre-transplant stuff.  Had my third bone marrow biopsy monday.  They did some lung test, ECHO of my heart, EKG, took 18 tubes of blood, chest x-rays.  Tuesday they did a medical history and a phisical. Then they put a port in me so I won't have to worry about iv's.  Today I have a Doctors apointment.  They will be starting me on chemo tomorrow and will have the transplant on the 5th of December.

It's almost time for me to disappear for a little while. Last weekend to spend with the kids before I leave. Not ready... Never will be... Its very hard to say goodbye and let things go... Even if its just for a while....  I am lucky  to have an awesome wife J'Lene and an amazing sister Sally that will be able to do the undo-able. I not sure what is going to happen but I am sure it will work out and we will all be stronger then we are now.

Thank You! - Family, friends, and everyone that has been there, one way or another. With all the bad in the world today, its nice to know there is a lot of good still too. I don't think i will ever be able to thank everyone or even know everyone that has helped us out. There are just so many kind and caring people surrounding us. Love you all!
